What is a Warrier?

Warrier is not a misspelling, it’s a matrilineal familial line from Kerala, India, that some claim traces its ancestry back to a goddess known for her power, protection, and wisdom.
Traditionally “Warriers” held jobs in the upkeep of temples, contributing as the hardworking backbone of the temple.
We often wonder if the times got tough, would we live up to those who came before us?
Bhavani comes from a long line of powerhouse women who never back down, especially when it comes to protecting the people they love. These Warriers include her grandmother who continues to serve as the fiery matriarch of her family.
Her paternal and maternal grandfathers showed her a path to carry forward this legacy of power, protection, and hard work through the law.
Bhavani grew up learning about her paternal grandfather, a family-law attorney who died before she was born, who would load his law books into his bullock cart to travel rural India to see clients. He served as a source of protection and compassion for his community. Bhavani had the honor of spending summers with her maternal grandfather who served as an attorney in the student movement for Indian independence, worked negotiating with unions, and later served to strengthen the education system. He taught her that the law can be used as a tool to make society more equitable.
